Tree of Life

As the weeks run down to the end of the last term for Grade 12 I am completing D5 on Phylogeny and systematics.

I showed my students the following video:

The graphics that are used to track the evolutionary development are excellent.

On this site you can explore the interactive and watch the video of the Tree of Life that aired on the BBC. Find out more about Darwin and evolution and join the discussion on their blog. There are also plenty of resources for teachers, scientists and animators.

After showing and discussing the whole issue of the tree I then explained that the purpose of the topic of Phylogeny and systematics is to tackle the tree of  life from the present back to the past.
