Atomic Structure – Unit 2

Att his point in time you will probably have finished (or nearly finished) topic 1, quantitative chemistry. Hopefully this has gone well and you are now beginnig to think / plan topic 2 – Atomic Structure.

Topic 2 can be split up into the following core / standard level topics:

• The atom
• The mass spectrometer
• Electron arrangement

From my experience, the topic of the atom is quite straight forward. The mass spectrometer causes some problems and electron arrangement the most problems.

My posts over the next few days will aim to cover all of these topics in more detail. I will also aim to give you some resources to help your understanding, as well as some good websites and resources to use with the students.
