The United Nations celebrates and recognises August 19 as World Humanitarian Day – “a time to recognize those who face danger and adversity in order to help others. The day was designated by the General Assembly to coincide with the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq. World Humanitarian Day is also an opportunity to celebrate the spirit that inspires humanitarian work around the globe.”
I’m a regular reader and follower of Larry Ferlazzo’s blogs and twitter feeds. He’s an award winning teacher and writer and a leader in showing us the extent of the resources and power in social media.
His blog commemorating this day above-mentioned is a gem – full of value and currency.
And listen to Beyonce indicating her reasons in supporting awareness of this day.
