Welcome back Design Technology students – Ideas for your Major Project can be very simple…

Hi students,

Welcome back and I hope you are looking forward to your year ahead in Design Technology. For DP2 students although daunting this should be a very exciting time as you consider what you will do for your Major Project.

Remember as you are thinking through what you would like to do for your Major Project – look around the house and see if you can find anything that annoys, that does not work quite as well as it should – and show some constructive discontent. A perfect example below is for an anti clogging drain device – it may not be glamorous but what a great idea.

Note the discussion regarding how this is manufactured is an interesting one – to think about although maybe they are just 3D printed as part of the manufacture process. Although would that be economical, feasible and efficient for 10,000 of these?

So remember the best ideas are often the simplest – this could easily have been a great prototyping major project! So looking forward to seeing what you all come up with this year.
