As summer begins to move quite firmly into autumn and a Canadian winter here in Toronto, students at my school are completing their Ecology unit and working through their design IA.

To that end I have found this website (http://www.saps.org.uk/) to be invaluable in giving me advice and helping me with ideas for relevant experiments. I have always felt Plants should provide a host of lab work but lacked the knowledge to get the most out of them.

We have recently started to culture some algae so that in 2 – 3 weeks we will be able to make alginate beads with them and hopefully carry out some sophisticated lab work.
