Major Project Blues – How About Some Furniture Design?

Hi students, are you struggling with thinking of some ideas for your Major Project. Well – if you have read my posts before as a Design Technology teacher I am a fan of Product Design and Furniture design. So see below for some great links and inspiring ideas that could get your creative design juices flowing :-

• Could you design a better laser cut – Foldable table that could be carried easily around and yet be structurally stable for two people to sit on? Well have a look at this to see if you could do better?
• Love this design for a shape shifting seat – where would this be useful does it solve a problem or is it just a design folly do you think? How does it work?
• A moving table prototype design? Sounds crazy but love that this designer has got inspiration from Theo Jansen – just shows you designs do not come from thin air! Is there room in the world for other products that move?
• This is the time of the year when well known design websites and blogs come out with their top tens – have a look at Design Booms product design top ten. Some great ideas!
