BSL sponsors one or two IB graduates per year to come to Lomé and assist the teachers and boarding house supervisors. These students stay for one term or the entire year. They are currently compensated with room and board and 100,000 francs CFA (£125) per month for each month at BSL. They must pay their own transportation costs to and from Lomé. These interns should be successful IB graduates that have obtained a score of 35 on their IB years in school. This can be their predicted score if they apply prior to receiving their full IB results.

The maximum length of time for a Gap Year Intern is one academic year.
