For this blog I thought it would be useful for me to share with you some links for theatre and other performances you can watch at home. The links that follow are all free, and you can also access some interviews with directors and performers.

These links will help you to prepare for your director’s notebook or performance proposal, as you can see how director’s form their visions and put performance and production techniques into practice. The links will also help you look at all aspects of TEAM (tension, emotion, atmosphere and meaning) that you can apply to putting aspects of a theorist’s ideas into practice and devising original performance with a specific intention.

Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) free productions: https://www.marquee.tv/series/rsc

The RSC has also put a range of materials and workshops online to help you learn from home: https://www.rsc.org.uk/education/about-rsc-education/home-learning-with-the-rsc?utm_source=wordfly&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=CS-0804-WeeklyUpdate-Ents-TwelfthWatchAlong&utm_content=version_A

Another place to look for inspiration is with ‘TEDTalks’. Here is one by company who made the puppets for ‘War Horse’: https://www.ted.com/talks/handspring_puppet_co_the_genius_puppetry_behind_war_horse#t-29660

Every Friday Andrew Lloyd Webber shares a free musical on the site ‘The show must go on’: https://www.youtube.com/theshowsmustgoon

Every Thursday the National Theatre shares a filmed live production, which is available free for a week. This site also includes interviews with the actors, directors and designers: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUDq1XzCY0NIOYVJvEMQjqw

The Northern Ballet is also sharing some lived filmed performances. They are a unique company who have some interesting staging, costume and sound ideas. Watch their film ‘Ego’ to whet your appetite: https://www.facebook.com/northernballet/videos/229586638409229/?v=229586638409229

I hope that these links are useful for you and enjoy watching and learning online.

The next blog will be more practical with some resources for your mind, body, soul and voice to keep you active and creative while at home.
