Today I visited the final school, after a 23 year run – not bad.
My very first visits (1989) were to interview students in the International School of Tanganyika (Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania) and the International School of Kenya (Nairobi).
Since then I have examined regularly, and interviewed (very) roughly 1,000 students (?)
It has always been an interesting, often enlightening and sometimes inspirational encounter, and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to be part of such a great process – I’ll miss it. Its been a privilege and I’m sad that for various reasons the visiting examiner will no longer be part of the assessment process.
This time next year teachers will do the interviewing and examiners will listen to (and/or watch) recordings of the interviews, while viewing the uploaded artwork and pages on a computer screen.
