As international agencies struggle to deliver much needed supplies to survivors, there are reports that more storms might be on the way.
In response to the destruction, the loss of life, and the severe hardships that are afflicting communities in Tacloban you and your learning community will want to offer help.
No doubt your peers, students, parents and school administrators will look to you, the CAS Coordinator, to initiate activities and ways to assist.
Ironically, almost exactly a year ago I posted a blog about responding to a crisis.
My inspiration for that blog is Peter Baines. Baines was part of the leadership team that responded to Bali after the bombings in 2002 and he was called upon in 2005 to lead national and international teams in response to the tsunami of December 26, 2004 in South East Asia. Peter was also worked in Queensland following devastating floods there.
Leadership in response to a crisis is critical.
As you step forward to provide that leadership in your school I highly recommend that you read Baines’ advice in the attached e-book in the pdf.
Please share your advice – how are you and your students responding to this devastating crisis?
